Our Refreshed Brand
Our firm has changed its name to Boston Trust Walden Company (“Boston Trust Walden”) and introduced a new logo and website.
For more than 40 years, Boston Trust Walden has provided tailored investment management services to institutional investors and private wealth clients. We have refreshed our brand to reflect our reputation as an investment manager with an integrated, principled investment approach, broad client base, and leadership position in the impact investing industry.
Our new corporate name unifies “Boston Trust & Investment Management Company,” the firm’s former legal name, and “Walden Asset Management,” the brand name formerly used to represent our impact investing practice. We have not made any changes to our ownership, personnel, or the services we provide. We remain an independent and employee-owned firm committed to serving the needs of our clients.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why (and why now)?
We are adopting this new name to represent our integrated, principled investment approach, broad client base, and leadership position in the impact investing industry. Impact investing clients, whom we formerly served under the Walden brand name, represent nearly half of the firm’s assets under management.
What is impact investing?
The objective of impact investing is to generate positive social and environmental impact alongside financial return. We have over forty years of experience tailoring portfolios to meet our clients’ impact investment objectives. We achieve impact for clients primarily through company engagement, proxy voting, and integration of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into investment decisions. Is this a corporate merger? Were Boston Trust and Walden two separate companies?
No, this is not a merger. We have legally unified our two names into one: “Boston Trust Walden Company.” “Boston Trust & Investment Management Company” was the former legal name of the firm. “Walden Asset Management” was the brand name we formerly used (from 1998) to represent our impact investing practice. Walden was not a separate company. We remain an independent and employee-owned firm.
Will clients need to recontract with Boston Trust Walden?
What is the benefit to me as a client?
Our unified brand simplifies our messaging and expands awareness of our expertise in impact investing among our clients and partners. In addition, our refreshed website and client portal are designed to improve access to information about our firm and your client account.
How will the change affect me?
Other than the changes to the look and feel of our reports and the website, as well as our new email domain (@bostontrustwalden.com), you should not experience any changes to the services we provide you.
Will the mutual fund names change as a result of the Adviser’s name change?
Not at present, however, we anticipate the names may change in the future. We will be sure to notify fund shareholders in advance of any fund name changes.
