Mark E. Cushing, CFA
Director of Strategic Initiatives
Mark has been with Boston Trust Walden for 21 years, during which time he served as the director of client relationship, business development, marketing and corporate communications. As an ongoing member of the Investment Committee, he has also been an active contributor to the firm’s investment management efforts as both an analyst and portfolio manager, including managing multi-asset and equity portfolios for institutional clients. He was a Managing Director and served on the Board of Directors for 16 years.
In January 2020, in a prelude to eventual retirement, Mark reduced his work schedule and stepped away from his previous responsibilities. However, on a part time basis, Mark continues to perform a new role for the firm, Director of Strategic Initiatives. In this role Mark, serves in an advisory capacity to the firm’s Executive Management Committee with primary responsibility for overseeing the execution of the firm’s strategic plan. He is also a mentor to numerous colleagues.
Mark began his career in 1981 and joined the firm in 1998. Previously, he worked at SEI Corporation in its Investments Services and Systems group. He also worked for twelve years in a variety of roles at IBM Corporation. He earned a BA degree, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Colgate University, and an MTS degree in Theology from Harvard University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a member of the CFA Society Boston and the CFA Institute.
